Personal Experience!
Hello! My Name is Jickson V George, if you need any further help regarding your Marriage Registration you can email me on jicksonvgeorge@gmail.com.
Here is my personal Experience
After getting married in August 2019, we came to know that the marriage Certificate Received from Church may or may not have Legal value at some places of Requirement, thus the need for a legal Marriage Certificate issued by the Govt of India was felt.
We started by applying online via the e district portal and were directed to submit scans of all our documentation, the final stage led us to our local SDM where we learned that Christian Marriages are only Registered by MT KOM and his current office is Kapashera SDM (Nov 2019)
After realising the online process was worthless and useless we visited the Kapashera SDM and were told about the Registration process and documents needed. They also mentioned that if we come with 2 Witness our Certificate can be issued on the same day.
We went back home and gathered all the required documentation and then came to know that Baptism Certificate was also asked from one of the applicants who recently got their marriage registered. We waited to receive our Baptism certificate and once we got we visited the ADM office at Kapashera for the second time along with Two Witnesses.
We got their affidavits done and waited for MT KOM to arrive in Office, in the meanwhile the Office gave us a form to be filled, we completed all the process and waited. We were told late afternoon that the registrar will not be coming today and we need to visit again on another day.
We called the day after and were told that Sir is not in office, so we did not make our Visit.
Finally on 20th Nov 2019 we called and checked and were told Sir is in Office we decided to leave for Kapashera immediately only to realise one of the witness is not available, we quickly arranged for another person and reached within an hour. The new witness Affidavit had to be made and the forms were needed to be filled again. Everything was made ready in 20 minutes and then from 1:30 till 4 pm we waited outside the Office.
Around 4 pm we were called in and under 5 minutes MT KOM put his signatures and we were done. We came outside and after putting our details and photos in the register paid Rs 1500 and Received 2 Originals of our Marriage Certificate. They keep one with themselves incase of future requirement under any circumstances.
So thats how our marriage got legally Registered and hope this blog will help you to get your marriage regsitered without any difficulty.
You can reach out to me via email on jicksonvgeorge@gmail.com or also comment on this blog if you need any help.

DeleteThank you so much for this helpful web page regarding registration of Christian Marriage... We also seek help from you as we want to register our marriage and obtain a certificate for immigration purpose however no one has been able to provide clarity on the process for doing so.
ReplyDeleteWe got married in Delhi back in 2009 and both of us are Christians. The problem is we moved out of Delhi 5 years back and now living in Bhiwadi, RJ. All our documents, id cards have the RJ address because of which many advise us to register in Bhiwadi RJ. But in here in Bhiwadi concerns are not aware of Christian marriage act and making us go round and round. Few of our parishioners have advised us to register in Delhi we got married. Hence, we seek your expert advice on how to go about it.
1. Will it be the normal way of taking an appointment and visiting the office with required docs and witnesses?
2. What about the documents, will we have to show old docs or the new id proof etc. with copy of our marriage card?
3. Are we missing on something?
Not very sure what to do as I just asked some advocate (though Christian) but he says it will take 2 weeks and 15k. Please help as we are in need and want to sort this out ASAP....Thank you all in advance and God bless....
Hi Danny! Glad you reached out, il strongly recommend few things
Delete1. Since you got married in Delhi, i believe you should get it registered in Delhi only at the same office ad mentioned above.
2. Take all your existing documents, ids, address proofs both of delhi and rajasthan and ensure you have minimum 2 people as witness when visiting.
3. Also have the affidavit for name change and name change advertisement in newspaper in case of name change after marriage.
4. Also contact the office of MT KOM, the number is mentioned above, sharing here as well
